National Service Scheme

National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's Birth Centenary Year, 1969 with 40000 students of 37 universities. NSS was established by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India with “Not Me: But You", as the motto which reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service.

The objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are

  • To understand the community in which they work
  • To understand themselves in relation to their community
  • To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
  • To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
  • To utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
  • To develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
  • To gain skills in mobilizing community participation
  • To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
  • To develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters
  • To practice national integration and social harmony

| Activities:

Environmental Awareness Cycle rally

  • Our college NSS units and ThanjavurArasan Lion sangam jointly organized awareness rally on 21-02-2020. The concept of the rally is safety health, Environmental protection and Save fuel. More than 300 NSS students from various schools and colleges were participated. The rally started from our college and ended at sathya stadium Thanjavur. Our college principal flagged and inaugurate the rally. Dr.Radhika Michael distributed the certificates to the participants.
  • Our college NSS units, Renewal foundations, Pudukottai and green city of Thanjavur jointly organized tree plantation camp and celebrated world environment day at RSGC Thanjavur on 05-04-2020. More than 350 saplings are planted (Corona kaadu). This camp was conducted during the lockdown period(Covid 19) over 450 street beggars, mentally retarded people and the needy helpless people are stayed in the college campus during the month of april and may 2020 with the support of these people the saplings are planted. This camp was inaugurated by our district collector and principal Dr.V.Senthamilselvi in the presence of Thanjavur green city president Dr.Radhika Michael and other officials from green city club. This camp was organized by our college NSS units.
  • Rotary Forest(குறுங்காடு)

  • Our college NSS units and rotary club of Thanjavur COSMOS joints organized the “Rotary forest” sapling plantation on 09-07-2020. Mr.S.S.Maheswaransuperident of police inaugurated the camp in the presence of Rtn.R.Balajibabu and our college principal with our college NSS students and rotary officials organized the camp. More than 1000 saplings were planted and the garden is maintained by our college NSS units.
